LOCAL IT BUSINESS RANKED NO. 233 IN THEIR INDUSTRY IN NATION

You may not have heard of them. Yet. But recently Varay Systems, an IT Company based in downtown El Paso, has turned heads nationwide.

On August 24th, the local tech leader was recognized by Inc. magazine, the only magazine to catalogue the performance of the top 5000 businesses in the U.S. – both small and large – tracking their three-year sales figures and more.

This year, the awardees were ranked based on their revenue growth from 2006 through 2009. All of the companies mentioned earned a minimum of $80,000 revenue in 2006 and a minimum of $2 million in revenue 2009.

With a growth rate of 135% during this time period, Varay is ranked number 1981 among all qualified companies of every industry.

Among IT companies, they are number 233.

And all this with only 25 employees.

“We attribute our success to the quality of our team members,” says Varay Systems CEO, Patrick Holland. “I believe that each of them ranks in the highest tier of employees in our industry.”

One of the Inc’s criteria is private ownership- no company on the list is a subsidiary or division of a larger company, or is publically held at the time of ranking. In this way, the magazine encourages equal footing in their grading system, recognizing the challenges inherent in independent enterprise.

The magazine grades companies based not on subjective variables, but statistics alone- a practice which has earned the trust of many industry professionals.

And investors seem to like that sort of thing too.

In the past, Inc. 500|5000 companies have frequently outperformed their peers in the years following the honor. Inc. 500|5000 recognition is often the first indication that a company will someday become a national brand- maybe even a household name.

However, Varay insists that while they’ve set their sights high, they like doing business right where they’re at. “With more independently owned and operated companies than the majority of the U.S. cities of a comparable size, El Paso is already known as a place that values small business. That’s one reason we love it here,” said Holland. “We are proud to have contributed to the local economy since our founding in 2003, and grateful to our city for making success possible for us and for other local companies.”
